The Blackridge Civic Association (BCA) Clubhouse is over 60 years old and has survived a lot of seasonal extremes.  This year we were not so lucky.  As many who are reading this already know, we suffered a break in the water line that runs between our water meter at the Collins Dr to the clubhouse.  Over the last three weeks we made the arrangements for a detection company to find the leak and an established plumber to make the repairs.  The work started Monday morning on the 9th and was be completed on Tuesday.

We do not have a final invoice at the time of this writing.  The original estimate was approximately $17,000.  Both the BCA and the BSC depend on this waterline line for our operations.  The BCA and the BSC are both able to commit $6,000 to the cost of the repairs.  Beyond that we would be potentially tapping into lines of credit to cover the balance of the cost.

How you can help – Your Membership

Our first request for assistance would be to ask for members and friends of both organizations to complete membership registrations for 2026.  For years, membership fees sustained the BCA.  Membership dues are still a significant portion of our operating budget.  Registering and paying membership fees now can help the us cover the cost of the waterline repairs.  BSC members are required to maintain and active BCA membership per the BSC Bylaws.  Registering now can split up the cost for joining both organizations.  Please visit our website Join Us! to join the BCA.  (Membership fees are not tax-deductible.)

How you can help – Fund Raisers

Sunday, March 29th, the BCA will hold our second annual Spaghetti Dinner at the BCA.  Proceeds from the event will be dedicated to reducing the costs above the amounts the organizations can currently afford.  Send email to the BCA President at [email protected] to make a reservation.  Other fundraisers will follow.  Even though funds raise may not go directly to pay this bill, it will make up for the expenditure of this unexpected maintenance expense.  Please participate when they come up.

How you can help – Capital Campaign

The BCA is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Charitable Organization.  We are initiating a capital campaign to cover the shortfall in our immediate ability to cover the cost of the waterline repairs.  Donations to the BCA may be tax deductible (please check with your tax professional).  The BCA will provide documentation for any donation to the BCA for your tax records.  Please note, membership fees are not tax deductible.

Donations can be made on our website Donate! or mailed to us at:

The Blackridge Civic Association, PO Box 10684, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.

If you would like to make a donation in a different manner, pleas reach out to [email protected].

For any questions regarding the waterline repairs, or the ways you can help please reach out to the president or treasurer at the email addresses listed above.
