Venturing is a branch of the Boy Scouts of America that is open to both girls and boys ages 14 to 20. Venture Crew 115 started with several girls that were sisters or friends of Boy Scouts, who wanted to do the “cool things” their brothers and friends were doing. Since then, members of the crew have been camping, canoeing, climbing and zip-lining, participated in First Aid, CPR, and Leadership training, as well as classes for time management, and had activities including archery and rifle, trap, and black powder musket shooting. In the spring of 2017, they are planning Wilderness Survival training and plan a camping trip to apply those skills. Two of the girls are also attending the Boy Scout National Jamboree in 2017.

The crew meets once or twice a month (typically on Sunday afternoons or evenings because the girls have a variety of other activities during the week) depending on the needs of the activities being planned. Meetings are held at the BCA clubhouse – the BCA has been the charter organization for Venture Crew 115 since 2014. Activities regularly include camping and outdoors skills. To date, Crew 115 remains an all-female unit, but meetings are open to anyone who would like to explore the opportunities and experiences the crew provides.
